Alresford Golf Club, Hampshire
Changing room refurbishment projects within the Sports and Leisure industry are a particular speciality for the team at Lan Services. Significant time needs to be spent on the design and specification of changing rooms to achieve modern expectations and utilise best use of the space. This includes not only the room layouts but also the materials used, which requires a good deal of sector experience.
Golf is an extremely popular British pastime and many UK clubs are seeing a surge in their bank balance due to the HMRC refund of overpaid VAT on golf club green fees. The clubs are using this money for a variety of projects, including the upgrade of club house facilities, in particular the changing rooms.
Alresford Golf Club decided to use the funds to upgrade their ladies and gents changing rooms, including the toilets and shower areas.
The changing room spaces retained their original wooden lockers and changing benches but all other fixtures and fittings were removed. Solid surface vanity tops and storage cupboards were renewed. Walls and ceilings were decorated and new spike proof carpet was installed to the changing room floors as well as to the bench seat tops. The result was a bright and vibrant, traditional golf club changing room.
The open plan male shower area was refurbished with anti-slip porcelain floor tiles and easy to clean Altro Whiterock wall cladding. A feature wall of colour (mint) helped to raise the aesthetics. The lever shower controls included integrated TMV3 valves to ensure no scalding and fixed overhead soaker shower heads provided a good water flow.
The ladies’ showers had to provide more privacy than the gents area. Raised shower trays were installed within blockwork cubicles, each containing a pivot door assembly manufactured from toughened glass. TMV3 controlled showers were coupled with removable shower handsets on riser rails and douche handsets at a lower level.
The toilet rooms were the show piece of the whole washroom refurbishment project. Their specification included half height IPS duct panel sets throughout with matching solid grade laminate toilet cubicles in a woodgrain finish. The ladies opted for a solid surface vanity top with integral Corian basins while the gents favoured a white Corian wash trough. Both included lever controlled taps and Franke counter mounted soap dispensers and waste chutes. The toilet room walls and floors were tiled using modern looking beige tiles.
