Oxford & Cherwell Valley College set out to refurbish several key school toilets within the College and approached Lan Services to help with drawing up the toilet specification. We were subsequently selected as the preferred installation company.

The project brief focused on a need to improve overall appearance and develop the washroom areas into pleasant facilities. The need for improved hygiene and increased energy/water efficiencies was obvious, as such our design included for modern and robust washroom products.

The washroom design included refurbishment of all aspects of the rooms, including newly tiled walls and floors. Gloss white wall tiles offered an easy wipe surface and bumpy black porcelain floor tiles provided an anti-slip finish, essential should the floor become wet.

All replacement toilet cubicles were manufactured from solid grade laminate (SGL), the ideal material for school toilet cubicles due to its strength and robust nature. IPS panels to the rear of toilets and urinals helped to conceal unsightly pipework and aid with the schools cleaning regime.

A key feature of the washroom design was the white solid surface wash troughs with wall mounted sensor taps and soap dispensers. The wash troughs were mounted on IPS paneling to conceal pipework. Access for maintenance and to change soap is easily achieved by removal of the panels.

Biodrier Executive hand dryers were installed to each toilet room. These dryers are highly energy efficient and look fantastic in their white finish. LED light fittings helped with the energy efficiency credentials of the project, helping the school to save money.

Sanitary ware consisted of back to wall toilets with concealed push button cisterns and urinals with concealed and integrated traps. These both complemented the IPS duct panel sets. Urinals were flushed by sensor operation – a system supplied by a mains water feed.

The overall result transformed the school toilets and has helped create a much more pleasant environment for children and staff to work.
