Burnbake Campsite

Burnbake is a woodland campsite on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset, near Corfe Castle. During the winter shutdown in early 2017 they required the campsite washroom and bathrooms to be refurbished and Lan Services was chosen to undertake the work.

The washroom design was heavily influenced by the campsite surroundings, with earthy natural colours and wood grain patterns chosen for the panelling. With the washrooms also featuring showers all the panelling including the vanity units, toilet cubicles and duct sets was manufactured from solid grade laminate, a compact resin based material which is impervious to the ingress of water.

Within the shower areas a slip resistant porcelain tile was laid to the floor which then meets Altro Pieces slip resistant vinyl flooring throughout the remainder of the campsite washroom. This type of flooring is not only safe when wet but comfortable to walk on barefoot and durable enough to be walked on with outdoor shoes on too.

Altro Whiterock wall cladding was installed on the interior walls; Whiterock wall cladding is impact resistant and therefore perfect for busy washrooms, and unlike tiling as it is grout-free the smooth surface is easy to clean and therefore more hygienic than traditional wall tiling.

The vanity unit was set into a corner, but space was limited so to provide the maximum number of washing stations half the vanity unit featured semi-recessed washbasins, and where the space allowed, the other half of the vanity unit featured inset washbasins. The vanity unit access panels were also designed so that they are hinged and lockable enabling the premises operators to securely store spare washroom consumables within.

In the modern commercial washroom, to save installation time and for simplicity, it is usual to install a single mixer tap, however that did not suit the profile of the customers who will utilise a campsite washroom and bathroom. Because the venue is a campsite it is understood that the washroom wash stations will be used for more than just washing hands. Guests will also likely be shaving, and brushing their teeth at these sinks, so the ability to choose the temperature output of the taps was an important consideration.

For these reasons we specified and installed the stylish Franke Pureline 0005 tap to each sink; these feature a single stainless steel body but with a temperature adjustment lever on the side of the tap, so whilst looking modern they also provide additional functionality.

Within the shower cubicles we installed the durable and reliable Delabie sporting shower panel which, like the Franke taps feature a push button timed flow operation. Time flow features such as these limit water wastage by automatically shutting off after a set time, and also prevents deliberate flooding of campsite washrooms by vandals. Time flow taps and showers are the ideal features for campsite and holiday park washrooms, providing water cost savings and helping keep facilities safe.
