Office Toilet Refurbishment

Following an extensive renovation of their offices, Viadex required an office toilet refurbishment to complete the project. Viadex got in touch with Lan Services to discuss the project, due to be completed at their head offices in Surbiton.

Due to the specialist knowledge required to specify, design and install washrooms the technology company were seeking a separate specialist contractor for these works.

Every office toilet refurbishment project is different and the specification often depends upon the nature of the clients business and their corporate style. Viadex for example wanted a washroom which reflected the style of their recent renovation works.

Office Washroom Design

Office toilets are often high-traffic environments, used by both staff and guests, they are required to be stylish, convenient and hard wearing.  Viadex were extremely happy with the concept washroom designs we produced. On the basis of these and the specification Commercial Washrooms produced they instructed us to undertake their office toilet refurbishment project.

Washrooms are often overlooked in the overall office refurbishment and renovation projects, but often leave the most lasting impression on visitors, clients and employees.

Washroom Refurbishment Preparation

Prior to the main work commencing in order to meet the concept design some relocation of plumbing was required. This was due to relocation of certain washroom services to meet the new design.

This work was conducted in parallel to the strip outs of the existing washrooms and included the relocation of mains water and waste pipes within the room.

Office Toilet Product Specification

Solid surface vanity tops were specified in the office toilet refurbishment. They included integrated moulded basins to complete the smooth seamless look at the washing stations.

The moulded basins were partnered with a minimalistic lever mixer tap and around the mirrors we installed bespoke strip lighting. The LED strip lighting is inexpensive to run and provides a premium feature to the washroom. It also provides additional lighting around the hand washing area.

Incorporated under the LED lighting and above the sinks is a glass splash-back above the vanity unit. Supplied in Viadex’s corporate colours, giving a flash of colour and to tie together all the washroom design features into this executive washroom.

Highly durable Karndean laminate floor was laid and large 450×450 grey porcelain wall tiles were also fitted. Both of which provide hygiene benefits, large flat surfaces are always easier and quicker to clean.

Office Washroom Hygiene Considerations

Large tiles are often selected for office washroom refurbishments. Specifically because it is the grouting between wall tiles where bacteria predominantly builds up. This then requires regular and thorough cleaning increasing washroom maintenance costs. The large wall tiles selected reduce the amount of grout needed, resulting in improved hygiene and creating an easier to clean washroom.

Other hygiene and usability improvements were also implemented, in keeping with the executive washroom theme. Including and energy efficient hand dryers selected by the client.

Office Toilet Cubicles

The toilet cubicles and partitions that were installed during the refurbishment work are made from High Pressure Laminate. HPL is incredibly durable and resistant to water, and offers a wide range of choice of colours and finishes.

Pipework and cisterns were concealed behind IPS duct panelling systems also made from the High Pressure Laminate, keeping things looking smart, but also reducing exposed surface areas, ans another easy-clean feature.

A new suspended ceiling was also installed, within which economic LED lighting was fitted. The LED lighting is already very economical to run, but a sensor and timer system was also fitted to ensure the lights are on only when necessary.
