Lan Services have recently completed the washroom refurbishment including the male shower and changing facilities at the prestigious Ferndown Golf Club in Dorset. The Golf course appears in the Rolex World’s top 1000 Golf course list and has been judged 29^th best in the UK by Golf World.

It is no surprise therefore that the client required a washroom with a functional design and an air of sophistication. This was a high end project with a critical and fixed completion date. The project had to be and was completed prior to the Easter bank holidays ready for use during the important and busy spring/summer golf season.

Within the single area there were three distinct areas that required attention; the changing area, shower room and of course the toilets.

Golf Club Shower Refurbishment

The main aim of the shower area refurbishment was to update the existing dated facilities and create a modern and luxurious shower space with far more privacy than the open plan design that existed prior.

To achieve this the existing floor screed was removed so as to install an ACO gulley drainage system, this created individual drainage for each shower space. Once the new floor was laid partition walls were built, which along with the floor was tiled.

The floor tiles are similar in size and colour to the wall tiles to give the illusion of more space and create a stylish floor to wall design. However the floor tiles within the shower area are non-slip for safety.

New mixer shower control valves were fitted outside of the shower area to enable the shower to be turned on and warmed up prior to stepping in. And the control valves feed luxurious rain soaker shower heads in the ceiling.

By partitioning the shower area with tiled stud walls and installing the underfloor gulley drainage system, coupled with the high end mixer and shower heads a luxurious and individual space was created for each user.

Golf Club Washroom Area Refurbishment

Elsewhere where possible existing fixtures were replaced with energy and water efficient versions. Examples of which are the new sensor taps, sensor flush toilets, sensor flush urinals and PIR controlled low voltage LED lighting, which ensures the lights are only on when the washroom is occupied.

Back painted safety glass duct set panels have been used behind the urinals and toilets. These provide an easy clean surface, perfect for hygiene. But which also has the benefit of concealing all the associated plumbing and so prevents malicious and accidental damage.

The sanitary ware from Armitage Shanks, such as urinals and toilets was chosen on their design merits primarily, but they were exclusively selected from available commercial ranges. They are suitable for high footfall commercial washrooms so more than up to task, and will give years of trouble free use in a prestigious golf club washroom.

Unique and Bespoke Finish

Unique and bespoke touches such as back painted glass duct sets continue into the hand washing area. A solid surface tri-stone worktop designed and manufactured exclusively for Ferndown Golf Club sits atop a solid grade laminate vanity unit frame.

The vanity frame features lockable and hinged access panels to allow maintenance staff to refill the counter mounted soap dispensers, which each have a soap reservoir under the vanity top. Soap reservoirs such as these allow deck mounted soap dispenser to be used which are more aesthetically pleasing than a wall mounted soap dispenser and allow for less frequent refilling and conceal the soap and working parts.

The solid surface vanity top has been made to accept an inlayed waste chute which feeds another custom made edition to the washroom. Underneath the vanity top is a stainless steel waste paper bin which has been made to measure to fit exactly within the available space. This features a front release door, which again to assist maintenance staff in the upkeep of the washrooms.

Phase Two of Works at Ferndown Golf Club

In phase two of our improvement works we will be refurbishing the main visitors’ male and ladies washrooms to the same high and exacting standards, all part of Ferndown Golf Clubs continued investment in the facilities for members and guests alike.
